10 Tips for a Comfortable Long-Distance Bus Journey
From picking the right seat to packing smart, here is how to make your next long-haul trip as comfortable as possible.
Long-distance coach travel doesn't have to mean a stiff neck and a sleepless night. A little planning goes a long way.
1. Choose your seat wisely
Seats over the axle tend to feel every bump — if you're prone to motion sickness, book somewhere in the middle of the cabin.
2. Dress in layers
Bus air-conditioning can swing from freezing to stuffy. Bring a light jacket or shawl you can add or remove.
3. Pack a small travel kit
A neck pillow, earplugs, and a phone charger with a long cable will make a bigger difference than you'd expect.
4. Stay hydrated, but not too hydrated
Drink water regularly, but time it around scheduled rest stops so you're not caught out between breaks.
5. Download entertainment beforehand
Signal can be patchy on cross-border routes — download shows, podcasts, or e-books before you leave.
